The Institute of Imagination presents our next theme ‘reality’ in partnership with Rolls-Royce: a series of events and workshops for children, schools, families and teachers.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Rolls-Royce, an organisation committed to enthusing and inspiring young people to explore the world through access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). At the Imagination Lab we offer young people opportunities to experiment, innovate and create using a range of tools to develop new ideas.

The theme of ‘reality’ will feature activities with a focus on design, mechanics, engineering, as well as new technologies including augmented and virtual reality. There will be three zones for visitors to explore:

The Tinker Zone – where children will have an opportunity to understand mechanics through building, constructing and playing with basic machines and motors. There will also be opportunities to explore alternative methods of power through using the Imagination Lab’s wind tunnel.

The Creative Zone – where children can look at product design, development, engineering and manufacturing. Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D printers children can bring their ideas to life.

The Future Zone – where children will have an opportunity to explore the tools of the future, learning about augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) and understanding how these technologies will be used in the future world of work.

These twilight sessions are part of our ‘lab lead’ teacher leadership programme, aimed at those teachers and class facilitators working with Key Stage 2. These sessions provide opportunities for teachers to work with new tools and experiment with new teaching techniques at our Imagination Lab on London’s Albert Embankment.

School children will be able to explore a range of facilitated activities working across STEM subjects, also, integrating arts and design. The workshop allows children to experiment with new concepts and technologies.

Dates:  Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29, Thursday 30, Friday 31 March and Monday 24, Tuesday 25, Wednesday 26, Thursday 27 and Friday 28 April.
